The Hockey Centre

 

The Hockey centre was the venue for the Olympic and Paralympic Hockey matches. The Hockey Centre was also the venue for the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games football competition. The grandstand's distinctive roof resembles a glider soaring above the seating, and the pitch has been aligned to provide the best possible view for spectators.

During the Olympics the Hockey centre had seating for 15,000 people but now it can only have 4,000 people.

In the Mens’ competition Netherlands won gold, South Korea won Silver and Australia won bronze. Some of our men on the hockey team were. Michael Brennan, Adam Commens, Troy Elder, Stephen Davies and Matthew Wells. In the Women’s competition Australia won Gold, Argentina won Silver and the Netherlands won Bronze. Some of the women on our Hockey team were Clarinda Sinnige, Julie Deiters, Margie Teeuwen, Carole Thate and Susan van der Wielen.

At the Sydney 2000 Olympics the Australian Womens team won there third gold medal in a row.
