The Aquatic Centre

The Sydney Olympic Aquatic stadium currently holds 10,000 people. Capacity was boosted to 17,000 during the 2000 Summer Olympics. It is Australia's largest swimming arena. The centre has seating on either side of the pool.

The training pool has the world’s largest moveable floor and can be varied from 0 metres to 2.5 metres in depth.

The Aquatic Centre was the venue of swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming competition during the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Australia won 5 Gold medals, 9 Silver medals and 4 Bronze medals. Some of our swimming gold medalists were Ian Thorpe, Grant Hackett, Michael Klim, Todd Pearson, Susie O’Niel, Kieran Perkins, Liesel Johns and Sarah Ryan.
